Finally got to share my favorite place in the US with Marie! Of course that’s San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area. No matter how long I’m away from the city, every time I go back I just feel like it’s truly where I belong and I’m always try to work my way back there. It really is a special place for me which is why I wanted to go with Marie even more so. Even with 9 days for eating and sightseeing there’s just always so much to see and do that I always want more time there. Â
Even though I’ve been to the many times before, I always got around by bicycle or in a car with a friend so I still had some research to do for this trip, especially for catching public transportation within the city. For our hotel, we stayed in the Travelodge by Wyndham on Lombard by Van Ness. The location was pretty good even though it wasn’t directly on the waterfront because access to public transportation was easy and we could still walk to many of the places on our list. We also didn’t really want to spend $400/night on a room we’d only be sleeping in so there’s that for consideration too. We did a TON of walking but we also took advantage of the BART, buses, trolleys, and ferries whenever possible. The only time we rented a car was for the one day we drove to Napa. For our activities, we basically combined our own lists of places we wanted to see and eat, then I grouped them into separate days based on the areas they were in. In the end, we had a pretty full 9 days and every bit of it was great (except for the one sick day). Anyway, here goes…
