Hong Kong Day 2

I know it’s been a while since my last post and I still have a lot of Hong Kong and Macau pictures to go through.  I’ll probably speed it up a bit and not go into so much detail just so I can catch up to my latest Osaka/Nara/Kobe trip.  Let’s get to it shall we?

Free hotel breakfast buffet at the Holiday Inn Express SOHO... usually I don't go for this but I happened to be lazy this morning.
Sample currency. Interesting that not all the equivalent bills are the same... for example, it looks like different banks issue different bills of the same value
Little neighborhood park next to the hotel
Sheung Wan area in the morning
Caught the train over to Tung Chung on Lantau Island
Getting in line for the cable car over to Ngong Ping to check out the Tian Tan Buddha
I think this is one of the longest cable car stretches in the world....
Some of the cars have glass bottoms for an extra fee... not necessary I think.
Airport in the background
You can actually hike to Ngong Ping as well... there's a trail that pretty much follows the cable car over the hills so you can look down at all the hikers as you take the easy way hehe
Seemed like they were building a large underwater tunnel, probably connecting with China
Another view of the hiking trail
View from the car... you don't see that every day right?
Coming into the station
There's a little village leading up to where the Buddha stairs are... kind of touristy obviously but good to escape the heat and grab some food...
Which is what I did haha
Like a mango/coconut/rice thing... pretty good and refreshing
More souvenir shops and whatnot
Main courtyard area
Giant sticks burning on the left...
Po Lin Monastery
Just checking out the details that went into the design.
Very impressive on the inside too
Small little bakery outside the monastery
My lunch haha, all snacks
Climbing the stairs to see the Buddha
View of the monastery from the Buddha
All up close
Decided to walk over to the "wisdom path" and there was this abandoned tea house
Pretty creepy to me
Then I got to the picnic area but only the cows were eating and sleeping...
Wisdom Path
You can continue further on the hiking trail but it was hot and I didn't have time
Milk tea!
Was tired, but on the way back to the hotel area I stopped by the Sky100 building to check out the view from the observatory
Gift shop
Typhoon shelter
View North
View East
Everyday there are these women (mostly) sitting, eating, playing cards on this walkway near the IFC building. I was told they are hospitality/hotel workers... not sure from where though
The popular dim sum shop, Lin Heung, unfortunately the hour I got there was not dim sum hour
The lady who only yelled... although I did catch her smiling once
No dim sum while I was here but I did eat a mountain of delicious house special pork
Random fire hydrant

To be continued!
