Here’s the promised post about Singapore! Visited for about 5 days, staying next to City Hall. Mostly kept it to sightseeing and eating which was fine by me! Mostly around the downtown area and Sentosa Island. Seeing as how there are so many photos, I’m going to let the captions explain most of my experiences. First, a few observations while there:

– I could sit and stare at some of the buildings for a long time.
– The food is great
– Escalators run fast
– Customer service could be improved, and people are a bit touchy/pushy in crowds… as in, they’ll do that thing where they touch your shoulder to get past you or just bump you.
– Not too many bicycles
– Very diverse culture
– Very expensive chili crab
– Careful when crossing streets, pedestrians don’t seem to have the right of way
– When eating at food courts, people are there to bus the tables
– Cars drive on the left side
– Currency exchange is better in Singapore than in Japan
– Durian tastes like it smells… do not need to try again 😛

Train riding rules and fines...
On the MRT. Trains are pretty simple to figure out and everything is in english (as well as a few more languages). They are also pretty efficient and help a lot when it's humid outside. Rides are very cheap and rather than buy the daily tourist pass, I got an ezlink card which is basically a prepaid card and more cost efficient.
Tian Tian Chicken Rice, so simple yet so good!
Chinatown
Clarke Quay, lot of restaurants and bars, more of a nightlife place it seemed
On the riverfront
War Memorial Park
Convention Center
At the Esplanade
Downtown from the Esplanade
Esplanade from Merlion Park
Merlion Statue
Marina Bay Sands and the Art Science Museum
Singapore Flyer
Riverfront at night
Boat Quay... riverfront restaurants. Also, expensive chili crab. When I sat down to look at the menu and saw how much they charged for one small chili crab ($80+ dollars), I told the waiter I was going somewhere else and he flat out told me, "No." Refer back to my customer service statement.
Little India
Fish Head Curry from the Banana Leaf. Lot of work but very tasty. Drew a lot of looks from others at the large (small) portion I was eating by myself.
The not free bathroom
Little India
Little India
The store in Little India that sells pretty much everything
Bugis Street
The most crowded little street ever (the picture does not do it justice). Just a bunch of small shops selling random things.
Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay
Probably the best place of the trip. Gardens by the Bay... straight out of the Avatar movie. There is a music/light show at night that shouldn't be missed. Watched it twice and you can even walk on the platform for a small fee. Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Casino in the background.
Rules at one of the many food courts
Merlion Statue on Sentosa Island
Siloso Beach
Looking at the water and Singapore Straight
Zipline! One of the many things you can do on Sentosa Island
Kaya Toast. It tasted like a chunk of butter with bread... and that coffee was a third condensed milk.... for those of you who like sweets, the perfect breakfast
The bridge to the southern most part of continental Asia
Yep, been there
Looking North, from the Southern most part of continental Asia
Sentosa Golf Club
One of, if not the nicest club house I've been in
Club Sandwich, Singapore Sling, souvenirs, and my man bag. That's right, I have an official Japanese man bag. How I travel. The Heinz Chili Sauce was awesome too.
At City Hall Train station. Escalators and mirrors.
Sitting at the waterfront at Marina Bay Sands, nightly water/light/laser show. I believe it was titled, "What a beautiful world"
Good way to cap off the trip and enjoy the peaceful Singapore waterfront.

I feel like I underestimated how much there is to see and do in Singapore. Sentosa Island by itself has many activities and that alone could be a trip. Still had the rest of the island to discover. Definitely wouldn’t mind going back to see more and eat more! It was a great, short little trip. Till next time, Singapore!
